Aaron's Fling with the Fairies
Scene 2

When my eyes adjusted from the sudden change of brilliant sunlight to a lack of it, I again saw the fluttering bits of pink and blue. Only this time, they were joined by twins of the same hue, along with two dancing bits of green. It wasn't just one bird, and it certainly wasn't a parrot! There seemed to be six different birds. The bird-like creatures were at the other end of the tunnel, which seemed to open into another sunlit area of the park. In the blink of an eye, one of the bright green birds flew to my hand and pulled at my thumb. It was then, to my surprise, that I realized that the creature wasn't a bird at all, but a tiny flying man. I never imagined that this was the kind of fairy that my friend spoke of.

I hadn't been in the sun so long that I should be having hallucinations! I wasn't hung-over, and I don't indulge in drugs. This small, green creature pulling at my hand shouldn't exist, but there it was. It was a tiny man-perfectly proportioned and in great, tiny, shape, with not-so-tiny equipment. His skin was several shades of iridescent green, but more miraculously, he had beautiful, matching wings. They were like those of a delicate insect, transparent and iridescent. This magical being had the face of an imp, with pointed ears to match on a head crowned with curling antennae and something like hair worn in a distinctive style. He had eyes that danced with mischief, life, and something else.

I wasn't afraid at all as the little green fairy's touch sent a welcoming tingle through my hand and arm. He guided me through the small tunnel into the most picturesque garden I had ever seen. The lush garden was walled on all sides by the same high stone wall and was filled predominately with lavender but had ample plantings of other flowers, including lilies of the valley, buttercups, and iris. As I entered this garden, my senses were embraced by the warm scents of growing, blooming things. It was like "The Secret Garden" after little Margaret O'Brien had finished working her magic.

I now saw the creatures for what they were: fairies, creatures that should not exist outside of books and special-effects movies, buzzing around me like hummingbirds. There were six of them in three glowing, bright colors-pink, blue and green. Aren't those the colors of the three good fairies in "Sleeping Beauty?" Aside from the obvious color differences, each fairy also had individual differences in wing type, body type, antennae, and hairstyle. Actually, for tiny flying, multicolored men, they were quite sexy.

Within a moment of my stepping into the magical garden, four of the fairies began pulling me by various parts of my body to a bench book-ended by two glowing globes on pedestals. Everywhere the fairies touched me I felt warm, excited tingles, running up my body for about a foot-which is about how tall each of the fairies was. I scanned the garden through a magical haze and found it filled with silvery aspens, red buds, rock gardens, and glowing orbs.
